Bloontonium-Thorium Energizer
Reduces ability cooldowns everywhere by 20%. While in range, Heroes earn XP 50% faster and water Monkeys ability cooldowns are halved. All towers around the Sub inflict 35% more damage and attack 45% faster. If destroyed, the subsequent explosion leaves behind 1-minute radioactive fallout that does damage over time to Bloons and eliminates Regen properties.

Dyson Swarm Fusion Reactor
An experimental submarine powered by a hydrogen fusion reactor, kickstarted through energy from the Dyson Swarms orbiting the Sun. Utilizes neutron radiation as its mechanism of submerged attack, which can also remove Ghost every third attack increment.
Reduces all ability cooldowns by 50%. Heroes earn XP 175% faster and water Monkeys ability cooldowns are reduced by 65%. All towers around the Sub inflict 50% more damage and attack 65% faster. Neutron radiation also replaces radioactive fallout from the explosion arising from this tower's destruction.

Strategy[]

Monkey Subs with Advanced Intel can fire wherever there are towers, making Sub + Heli (on Pursuit) an extremely good synergy, allowing the Sub to reach virtually any place, and no Bloon can escape.

Bloontonium Reactors and Energizers are good support units; they have been buffed in BTD7PotA so that they are no longer ineffective. They also double as kamikaze bombs to bosses due to the fact that their reactors explode when they are destroyed, and the explosion exclusively deals damage to Bloons and not Monkeys. However, one must make sure he/she has enough income to compensate for the money (e.g. multiple 6/2/2 Banana Farms) used in this strategy or you'll waste money, especially since Bloontonium Reactors that are blown up cost a lot more to revive.

A 2/6/2 Sub is extremely effective when combined with any towers that reduce cooldown, as you can potentially spam the ability to inflict millions of damage. In fact, such a strategy is a MUST-have when you encounter overpowered bosses such as Bloonarius X and the E.M.P.E.R.O.R., but beware of the latter's crippling mass disables.

Angry Sub skin[]


The Angry Sub is a memeified Tower Skin for the Monkey Sub in BTD7: Planet of the Apes. The Angry Sub is like a Monkey Sub except that every time a Sub uses an ability, a life is lost, a Tower is killed, this plays, and every time a Bloon is hit by an Angry Sub, the game plays this sound.

  • Angry Sub is an obvious reference to the Angry Sub memes circulating around r/btd6 and ISAB's Discord.
  • The name of UGM-1337 Xtreme Strike is based on the UGM-133 Trident II submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) built by Lockheed Martin Space.
